Susan Mackenzie, CNM, NP

Susan grew up in Sarnia, Ontario.  She attended Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Kalamazoo and got her feet wet in Labor and Delivery in Brattleboro, Vermont.  She joined the Peace Corps after obtaining her US Citizenship and although unanticipated, began delivering babies in her small village in Monkey River Town, Belize.  This experience prompted Susan to return to school to obtain a BSN and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Michigan with a certificate in Women’s Health and Nurse Midwifery while continuing to work as an RN in Labor and Delivery.  She received a scholarship for these programs from the United States Public Health Service Corp.  She worked as a Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner for several years with the Family Health Center in Battle Creek, and was also employed with Planned Parenthood in Jackson and Lansing.  Susan has been with Alliance since 2002.

Susan’s areas of special development with Alliance include a focus on PCOS identification and the formation of an IUD placement clinic.

Susan resides in East Lansing.  She is watching in appreciation as her son develops into an interesting, goal oriented and kind young adult.  Susan’s down time includes many forms of physical exercise, gardening, reading, and enjoying animals and friends.
