Now offering a new Labor & Delivery Education Class, presented by Dr. Karen Litos. This is a one-and-done interactive class best taken around 32 weeks.  Topics include: labor & birthing position options, how to manage contractions, how to breathe & push out a baby and immediate postpartum recovery. Mending Hearts is a pregnancy and baby loss support group whose mission is to help grieving parents who are trying to cope with miscarriage and baby loss. This is a facilitated parent-to-parent support group with meetings every other Tuesday. Click here for more information.
Centering Pregnancy is prenatal care combined with childbirth education in a group setting. You'll meet privately with a healthcare provider as well as a group of other women who are due around the same time. Centering includes group discussions, activities & time for sharing. The CDC is continuing to recommend that pregnant women refrain from traveling to areas with ongoing Zika Virus transmission (http://www.cdc.gov/zika/geo/active-countries.html) and Broward, Brown and Beach counties in Florida (http://www.cdc.gov/zika/intheus/florida-update.html) during their pregnancy. The CDC has recommended Zika Virus testing for ALL pregnant women (regardless of symptoms) who have traveled to an affected area within the past 2-12 weeks. Please call the office at 517-484-3000 if you have traveled to an affected area during your pregnancy.
Recommendations for individuals considering pregnancy: The current recommendation from the CDC is that women wait at least 8 weeks after traveling to an affected area and men wait at least 6 months before trying to conceive.
